170608-N-BD308-103 ATLANTIC OCEAN (June 8, 2017) Senior Chief Fire Controlman Stephen Compton tosses a white cover off the fantail of the amphibious assault ship USS Wasp (LHD 1) as part of a traditional symbolic gesture to commemorate his final underway in the Navy after 26 years of service. Wasp recently completed their first iteration of sea trials in preparation for their homeport shift to Sasebo, Japan where they are slated to relieve the USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6).
