Photosynthesis, illustratoin

Illustration of photosynthesis. Photosynthesis is the process by which most plants (and some bacteria) convert light energy from the Sun into chemical energy. Sunlight drives a reaction between carbon dioxide and water molecules to produce glucose, with oxygen typically being released as a waste product. Glucose can then be metabolised to provide cellular energy. Most plants, and some bacteria, acquire energy in this way. For an unlabelled version see: C059/0951.
