People in Cracow watching funeral of polish president Lech Kaczynski and his wife Maria, died in plane crash (read description)


Mourning after polish presidential plane crash. Polish Tupolev Tu-154M crashed near Smolensk, Russia, killing all 89 passengers and 7 crew members, including polish president Lech Kaczynski and his wife Maria, Commanders-in-Chief of polish Armed Forces, many politicians (members of parliament and senators), vice-speakers of parliament, the national bank governor nad many other notables. They all were flying from Warsaw to participate the 70th anniversary of the Katyn massacre. In Poland they were a lot of ceremonies after this tragedy. People were gathering on streets, lighting candles and praying. On this photo (taken 18th of April 2010) you can sea people watching live broadcast of polish president Lech Kaczynski and his wife Maria Kaczynska funeral on huge screens situated in Blonia Park near historic centre of Cracow. The presidential couple was buried together in a crypt in the Wawel Cathedral.
