The Jordan's Salamander is highly variable in coloration. This is the redcheek type. Their habitat is high elevation humid forests of the southern Appalachians. They are predators that feed on a variety of invertebrates. They are lungless salamanders - they obtain O2 across their skin (cutaneous respiration) and the lining of the mouth.
