An erect-growing plant, standing one to two feet out of the water, with elliptical leaves 4 to 6 inches long, and of arich velvety green. Flowers, straw color. 50 cts. each. PISTIA STRATIOTES. A very curious plant, which floats upon the water. Its long fibrous roots extend downwards, but have no con- nection with the soil.
