Mars explorer recruitment poster. A NASA recruitment poster showing an astronaut on the night shift engaged in mining work on one of the moons of Mars. Mars appears in the background. A number of crewed missions to Mars are currently being planned to explore the planet's potential for human habitation. The surface conditions and the presence of water on Mars make it a candidate for future colonization, and the Martian moons Phobos and Deimos could provide essential resources. NASA originally commissioned a series of these posters for an exhibit at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex in 2009.
