The pecuUar nature of the autennse ought easily to distinguish this species from all otiier Indian Empid-D. Subfamily TACHYDROMIIN^. Head with eyes more variable than in the other subfamilies, generally separated above the antennse in both sexes ; below they may be contiguous or separated ; when contiguous below, the frontal facets ma}^ or may not be larger than the others ; in some genera the eyes microscopically pubescent. Proboscis short, sometimes curved ; palpi 1-jointed. Antennse S-jointed, with a styliform ai'ista of one or two joints. often nearly as broad as long ; metapleura bare, or with very short hairs. Legs of varying lengths ; sometimes the fore femora or four anterior femora thickened, in which case the four anterior legs are raptorial: middle tibiae sometimes with a spine.
