DNA electrophoresis. Researcher with electrophore- sis equipment used to separate out samples of DNA (DeoxyriboNucleic Acid) into its constituent fragments (light areas). During electrophoresis the DNA samples, each consisting of many fragments, are placed in an agarose gel. The fragments are separated by applying an electric current across the gel. Some fragments will move faster through the gel and become separated from others over time. This allows the composition of the DNA to be observed.
