The early 1900s caption reads: "Hunyadi and Capistran leading assault at Belgrade. Hunyadi Janos, the great hero of Hungary, won his most splendid victory over the Turks at Belgrade. An Italian monk, Capistran, preached a crusade against them and brought a horde of ill-armed peasants to Hunyadi’s aid. At the head of those, Hunyadi charged the Turks. The wild fanaticism of his followers made up for their lack of discipline and the foe fled."
