A small Persian kard with scabbard, circa 1800 A single-edged wootz-Damascus blade with the base of the blade bearing chiselled floral designs on both sides. Cut and gold-inlaid grip frame with riveted walrus ivory grip scales. Brown leather scabbard with three, engraved, partially gilt, niello silver mountings. A nielloed inscription on the reverse side of the chape, "Daul's work in the year 1344" (= 1925) along with another, possibly earlier, gilt maker's signature. Dagger length cm.
