Oregon Grape Evergreen shrubs of wide use in garden and park making, their chief charm being a handsome foliage and yellow flowers, followed by fruits borne much like grapes, hence the common name. Muhonia uqulfolium. "Oregon ; Pacific Coast. Shining, purplish, prickly leaves; bright yellow flowers; berries blue-black. A native variety widely used where autumn leaf color effects arc a consideration, and also for thicket effects. M. japonica, syn. M. bcali. "Japanese ; Foliage roundish- ovate, and larger than in M. aquifolium, and beautifully shaded in yellow and red; flowers yellow; fruit dark blue. Distinct and desirable in shady spots. M. pinnata.
