Lyman HungerforJ was born in the town of Iaiis,Oneida Co., N. Y., Aug. 1, 1812. His father, OrinHuiifjcrford, was a native of the Green Mountain State,and was born in the town of Pownal, Bennington Co.,in 1790. He was a blacksmith by trade, and removed toOneida County about 1808, where lie until 181G,when he removed to Jefferson County and ] a farmin the town of Henderson, wliere he resided until liisdeath, which occurred in 1868. He married Jlifs AbigailMorgan in 1811. She was born in the town of Iownal,in 1789. They reared a family of nine children,—si.\ boysand three girls,—Lyman being the eldest of the elder Hungerford was an energetic and successlulfarmer of liberal and progressive ideas, and in all respectsa valuable citizen.
