Before entering upon his or her duties,or drawing any salary, every person employedin the postal service, from the Postmaster-General down, has to go before some civil ormilitary officer and take the following oath ofoffice: I, A. B., do solemnly swear, (or affirm) that I willfaithfully perform all the duties required of me,and abstain from everything forbidden bythe laws inrelation to the establishment of post-offices and post-roads within the Unit
