Fishing boats leaving Boston, Lincolnshire for the Wash, UK

The Wash, a shallow embayment in England's eastern flank, is an important fishery for cockles, mussels and shrimps which are fished for by boats from the Lincolshire port of Boston, seen here, and the Norfolk port of King's Lynn. This waterway, The Haven, which runs for five miles from Boston to the Wash, is the straightened lower end of the River Witham which runs, also much straightened, down from Lincoln. The tower in the background is that of St Boltolph's church which has been a landmark for sailors since is completion in the 16th century.
