The Kurdish evacuees are being given routine physical examinations and immunization of as part of their immigration processing for residence in the United States. Operation Pacific Haven is a joint humanitarian effort conducted by the military involving the evacuation of over 2100 Kurds from northern Iraq. This is to avoid retaliation to the Kurds from Iraq for working with the government and international humanitarian agencies. The evacuees are being sheltered and fed at Andersen Air Force Base and processed on a case-by-case basis for entry into the continental as quickly as possible. Hildebrand is deployed for the operation from Yokota Air Base, Japan.
