Fig. 235.—cymbulia and clio. dependent upon the presence of numerous minute isolated red specks, every one of which^ when still more highly magnified, is found to be a transparent cylinder resembling the cell of a sertularia, and containing within its cavity about twenty suckers adapted to seize and hold minute ])rey: the number of these red specks is calculated to be about three thousand; so that there are at least (3000 x 20 x 6).
