The Earl's Palace in Kirkwall, the capital of Orkney.

The Earl's Palace in the centre of Kirkwall was begun by Earl Patrick Stewart in 1601. It is close to the cathedral and was designed to incorporate the recently rebuilt Bishop's Palace nearby. It was intended to reflect the currently fashionable ideas of Renaissance French architecture.
