View SSW of the tall granite wheel head churchyard cross c. 10 metres S of St Credan's Church, Sancreed, Cornwall, England, UK. A C6th Early Christian inscribed memorial stone turned upside down & re-used to create a C12th high cross. Christ crucified on the NE face with incised decoration below, including diagonal criss-cross lines & a unique lily in a vase design. There are two damaged memorial inscriptions; one on the SE side reads FILIVS IC in two vertical parallel lines of Roman style capitals. The cross is described variously as Celtic, Pre-Conquest, Hiberno-Norse; Hiberno-Saxon, Saxon; Norman or Medieval, with date estimates usually in the C10th-C12th range.
