A late 19th Century illustration of the entrance gate to the Arsenal, built in the wake of the 1848/49 revolution, it was the largest building project of the young Kaiser Franz Joseph. The former military complex of buildings in the south-east of Vienna (now the Museum of Military History) consisting of several brick buildings in a rectangle layout make up the most distinguished building group of Romantic historicism in Vienna and has been constructed in Italian-medieval and Byzantine-Islamic style.
