A display in the Shetland Museum & Archives in Lerwick shows how Gunnister Man may have looked when alive. SEE DESC FOR DETAILS.
In May 1951 two men digging peat in Gunnister, Shetland, found the remains of a man. There were some fragments of bone and hair, but his clothing and some personal items were well preserved. From this evidence it is thought the body dates from the late 17th or early 18th century. The Shetland Museum & Archives have replicated the original finds to produce this reconstruction.
