None of the tracks will have pits except for shallowones at the inner ends of the tracks to aid the truckoverhaul work. The scheme of handling overhaul willbe to pick up the entire car body with the large crane,roll the trucks forward from underneath it, and lowerthe body onto horses or shop trucks. Any portion ofthe truck can thenbe picked up withthe smaller craneand delivered to anymachine in the entireshop, the runway ofthis crane extendingfrom the wall of thepresent shop to theopposite end of thenew building, 195 efficiency of thislayout can be readilyappreciated by astudy of the accom-panying floor planshowing the variousmachine locations. Itwas originallyplanned to build anew carpenter andpaint shop to thesouth of and adja-cent to the machineand overhaul shopalready described.
