NEW AND OLD BUS SIDE BY SIDE is swung low to the street with a wide base. Otherimprovements consist of push buttons for signaling thedriver to stop, installed in the risers between windowsinstead of along the rails as was done with theopen buses, and the addition of an electric light at therear of the upper deck. This location and arrangementof lighting was adopted because the light coming from the rear does not interfere with the observation of out-side objects by the pasengers. This first experimental bus is becoming very popularand it has been nicknamed the Yankee Tram by thepublic. Commercially it is an unqualified success as itincreases the capacity of the bus during stormy weatherwhen people do not wish to ride outside. A few minorchanges from the first bus constructed have been decidedupon and will be incorporated in several of the newbuses which will be put in service in the next fewmonths.
