The ocular symptoms are: Diminished central acuity, varying from 6/24 to 4/60, normal pupillary reactions, although somewhat sluggishly performed (Nieden), con-traction of the visual field, sometimes a color scotoma, and definite ophthalmoscopic changes. The latter are: A darker color of the fundus thannormal, as if stained with ink (Litten) ; naturally, oronly moderately overfilled arteries, and decided venoushypersemia, the veins being dark, full, and tortuous;pale optic disks, with occasional slight blurring of theirmargins. Decided extravasations appear not to havebeen observed, except in Niedens case, in which therewas an exudate near the papilla; small retinal hemor-rhages were noted by Litten. Fig. 38. JV90. 90T Blue Red Field of vision of Niedens patient suffering from nitrobenzol are concentric contraction and partial reversal of the color lines. The field of vision for white is concentrically con-tracted, and also that for color, the bine field being ingeneral smaller than the red field (Nieden); in other AMBLYOPIA FROM NITROBENZOL AND DINITROBENZOL. 131 words, a partial reversal of the color lines. (See ) In some eases there is a central scotoma for redand green (Snell). The visual field-phenomena appearto he similar in each eye; in other words, they indicatesymmetrical defects. The venous hypersemia and discolored fundus oculi arepresent in those who work in the manufactories, eventhough they have no visual disturbances. This hasbeen demonstrated by a number of examinations madeby Snell. Diagnosis. This amblyopia resembles that caused byiodoform and bisulphide of carbon i
