This was William Cheyne, Esq. son of Thomas Cheyne, the Grantee of the Manor. - Lysons, in his Magna Britannia (p. 552), mentions, that Browne Williss Notes speak of a Tomb, on wliich the figureof a Woman only remained, with the date 1468, which tradition affirmed to belong to Sir John Cheyne. This figure, how-ever, if it ever existed, as well as the date, has long since been 336 COTTESLOVV HUNDRED.
