In front it extends two hundred andtwenty-three feet, in depth one hundred andfifty, and its height, consisting of three stories,is fifty feet to the top of the cornice. In frontii a grand portico, eighty i^^i in length, consist-ing of a pediment, supported by six massivepillars of the Ionic order. The pediment issurmounted by three well-executed statues, re-presenting Hibernia resting on her spear andharped shield, Mercury, with his caduceus andpurse, and Fidelity, with her finger on her lips,and a key in the other hand.
