Kenyan Election Upheaval
Mourners came in their thousands to pay their last respects to the late MP David Kimutai Too On 9th February 2008 a funeral was held for the newly elected ODM Opposition MP David Kimutai Too He had been shot dead by a traffic policeman in the Rift Valley town of Eldoret The circumstances of his death remain clouded in suspicion It was reported that the MP was killed because of a private matter and had been entangled in a love triangle Certainly the timing of his death was suspicious in the immediate post election period and before a power sharing peace agreement was signed on 28th February 2008 The ODM leadership and many of its supporters claimed that murkier motives were the reason for his assassination The death caused further outbreaks of violence throughout the country and further de stabilised an already highly inflammed situation especially in the Rift Valley Province which is predominantly made up of Kalenjins from David Too s own tribe The politician was 39 years old when he was killed and was buried in his home village of Chepkioyo
