STUNNING pictures have revealed the hoard of multi-million-dollar American military equipment that lies at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean. The images, showing tourists exploring the ruins, highlight the extent of the waste caused after the US Navy dumped their equipment in the ocean following the end of World War Two in a place that become aptly known as “Million Dollar Point”. The images, showing tourists exploring the ruins, highlight the extent of the waste caused after the US Navy dumped their equipment in the ocean following the end of World War Two in a place that become aptly known as “Million Dollar Point”. The Americans had been using Espiritu Santo in the island paradise of Vanuatu as a base to launch their attacks on the Japanese in the Pacific and after failing to come to an agreement for the sale of the equipment to the other Allied nations they drove vehicles into the sea. They then used bulldozers to dump the rest of their equipment into the water, resulting in millions of goods being destroyed. The shots were taken by Canadian photographer Christopher Hamilton (35), from Windsor, Nova Scotia.
