LAMPAS, T is a fort of fwelling inLAMPERS, f the palate of a horfesLAMPRASS, J mouth, /. e. an inflam-mation in the roof of his mouth behind thenippers of his upper jaw, fo called, becaufeit is cured by burning with a lamp or hotiron. it is caufed by the fuper-abounding ofblood, and its reibrting to the firft furrowof the mouth, near to the fore-teeth, whichcaufes the faid furrow to fwell as high asthe gathers, which will hinder him fromfeeding, and caufe him to let his meat fallhalf chewed out of his mouth again. This is a natural infirmity with which allhorfes are atfefted fooner or later, and everycommon farrier can cure it.
