PHOTO-LITHOGRAPHIC CO. foSBORHES United States Patent Office. THOMAS A. EDISON, OF NEWARK, NEW IN ELECTRO-MAGNETS. Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 130,795, dated August 27, 1872. To all wlwm it may concern: Be it known that I, Thomas A. Edison, ofNewark, in the county of Essex and State ofNew Jersey, have invented an Improvementin Electro-Magnets; and the following is de-clared to be a correct description of the same. If two magnets of equal power act in oppo-site directions and at the same distance froma swinging armature, said armature will not bemoved; but by removing one magnet furtherfrom the armature the other will be free to ex-ert on that armature a force equal to the dif-ference between the effective force of one mag-net and the other. I avail of the foregoingfeatures, and, instead of employing an adjust-able spring to draw the armature b
