Barometer and Paauw was a talented instrument maker who made a name for himself both in and outside of Leiden. This instrument case features extremely beautiful and elegantly sculpted decorations in the Rococo style. The case was possibly not made in Leiden but in one of the more important centres of cabinetmaking, such as The Hague, Rotterdam or Amsterdam.
