"Kniperdoling"; Sketched for a Masque by Inigo Jones; Court Satire on the German Anabaptist, Bernhard Knipperdolling; Black and White Illustration; Inigo Jones (1573 – 1652) was not only the foremost architect of his time, he was also a major contributor as a stage designer. He sketched designs for a considerable number of masques (a popular form of court entertainment in the 16th and 17th centuries), most by royal command and many in collaboration with the dramatist, Ben Jonson.
