THH WESTINGHOUSE ( AND BROOKLYN HEIGHTS RAILROAD CARS purchasing department, had an exhibit on the the attending delegates. One of the most interesting railway .spe-cialties made by this company is the new bell-rope cordwith flexible steel-wire center, of which the representatives weresupplied with many samples. This cord, having a steel cablecenter, will not stretch or shrink, and is always in just the rightposition for the conductors hand, at the same time saving con-siderable friction against the fixtures of a car by giving a unstretching pull, as the part nearest the conductorshand travels no further than is necessary for the operationof the bell at the further end of the car. The samples of corddistributed were of a rich mahogany color, and would have ahandsome appearance when placed along the roof of the specialty which was being pushed by this concern andwhich has been largely introduced on a number of roads is awaterproof
