Night view, north towards colourful Scrolls, ABC Western Train passing Decodance Illuminations, Central Promenade, Blackpool, UK

Blackpool's Decodance Illuminations include six illuminated burlesque beauties designed by interior designer, Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen. A view looking north along the Central Promenade, towards the Royal Windsor Hotel and the Scrolls Illuminations. The Western Train Tram, approaching the Decodance Illuminations, first ran in 1962 and was withdrawn from service in 1999. It returned for the switch-on of the 2008 Illuminations after a campaign by the Blackpool Gazette and renovation with the help of a £278,000 Heritage Lottery Fund. The tram was originally sponsored by ABC Weekend Television, whose illuminated logo lies under the funnel. In the North of England, in the early days of Independent Television, from 1956 until 1968, Granada ran the weekday schedules and ABC (Associated British Corporation) the weekend slot.
