With knife in right hand begin the incisionin the median line 3 inches below the brim of pubis, and extend ifdownwards for a distance of 21/4 or 3 inches. (See Fig. 178.)This incision should penetrate all layers of the abdominal wall. 2. With index and second finger inside the abdomen the horns andovaries are readily located, after which withdraw each ovary inturn and sever them from their attachments. (See Fig. 179.) 3. The abdominal incision is now closed by three interrupted*through and through sutures, care being taken to see that eachcoat of the abdominal wall is in direct apposition.
