Jack Szostak (born 1952). Portrait of the Canadian American biologist Jack William Szostak. Szostak was born to Polish parents, in London UK. He is currently (as of 2011) Professor of Genetics at Harvard Medical School, USA, and Alexander Rich Distinguished Investigator at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, USA. He was awarded the 2009 Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine, along with Elizabeth Blackburn and Carol W. Greider, for the discovery of how chromosomes are protected by telomeres.
