Whip-Ma-Whop-Ma-Gate is the smallest street in York. It is located beside St Crux church hall in York city centre and runs for the length of the pavement between the church and the road. The name is thought to derive from the phrase Whitnourwhatnourgate meaning "What a street" or "Neither one thing nor the other".
