By Harriet Richardson,Collaborator, Division of Marine Invertebrates, United States National Museum. The following description is of a new species of Isopod crustaceanbelonging to the genus Gleantis. The single specimen is part of acollection received through Dr. Edward S. Morse from the ImperialUniversity of Tokyo. Family CLEANTIS Dana. CLEANTIS JAPONICA, new species. Body narrow, elongate, about four and a half times longer than itsgreatest width, 18J mm.: 4 mm. Surface somewhat granulate; colorlight brown, with longitudinal stripes of dark brown, arranged in fivebands, the median and the outer lateral bands being wide, and theinner lateral bands narrow. The head is 3J mm. wide and 2| mm. long; its anterior margin isexcavate in the center. The eyes are much wider than long, andplaced laterally, with only a portion showing in a dorsal view; theyare situated
