It will be seen that there is no regular relationship,whatever, between the curve of the annual rainfall (whichsupplies both the ground water and the sub-artesian water ofthis area), and the curve of the annual variations in lakelevel. There is, however, a close relationship between the 201 rainfall curve of County Low an (Vict.) and that of the south-eastern counties of South Australia, the latter being through-out somewhat higher than the former (see fig. 10). The apparent lack of correlation between the rainfalland the lake levels, as shown in the foregoing graph, wasvery disappointing, since the general evidence of the closerelationship of these
