In the centre ofthe light is the Virgin and Child in a splendidgolden aureole, with Isaiah and a Sibyl. To theright is the Crown of Thorns (Delphia). Abovethis is the Scourging (Agrippa), and Jesus blind-folded and buffeted (Erithere) ; and lastly, theCrucifixion (Tiburtine), and the Resurrection(Frigea, , Phrygia). These graphic andwell-coloured pictures are pleasantly drawn. In the beautiful window east of the window ofthe Sibyls, dated 1515, are twelve very vividpictures of the martyrdom of St Christine ofBolsena (the ancient Vulsinii) in Tuscany, withan inscription under each panel. In the firstChristine steals an idol; she is brought beforeher pagan father Urban, an officer of Diocletian;she is beaten by his orders. In the fourth pictureChristine is imprisoned with snakes, but deliveredby Jesus Christ. In the next four scenes Christineis tied to a pillar and scourged, and her feet arecut: she is tied to a razored wheel, and made todrink boiling oil by a man inspired by a red demon :she is sent back to prison: she is thrown
