BEESLEY, Clarissa A., second coun-selor in the general presidency of theY. W. M. I. A., was born in Salt LakeCity, Utah, the daughter of EbenezerBeesley and Annie Frewin was baptized Aug. 4, 1887, byWm. Hymas, at Liberty, Idaho, par-ticipated in the Salt Lake City 16thWard Church activities, particularlyin those of the M. I. A.; became wardpresident of the Y. L. M. I. A. at theage of seventeen, and Ipter was madestake secretary and stake presidentof this organization. During 1910- BIOGRAPHICAL ENCYCLOPEDIA 253 1911 she filled a mission to the CentralStates. Upon returning she was calledto the General Board of the Y. L. A., in January, 1912. InApril, 1929, she was chosen secondcounselor to Pres. Ruth May Beesley is a graduate of theUniversity of Utah and was a teacherin the Salt Lake City schools untilcalled into the general office of theM. I. A. in 1914. She has traveled ex-tensively for the organization and as-sisted in the preparation or editing ofmost of the M. I. A. publications dur-ing the past twenty years.
