A fiery Dorset Naga Chilly Pepper (among the hottest chilly varieties known) growing on the plant, red hot, ripe and ready for picking.

The Dorset Naga (Capsicum Chinensis), is one of the worlds most piquant Chilli Peppers. In 2006 the BBC’s Gardeners’ World television programme ran a trial looking at several chilli varieties. Heat levels were tested by Warwick Horticultural Research Institute using the Scoville Rating. A Dorset Naga was measured at 1,598,227 SHU (Scoville Heat Units), one of the highest levels ever recorded for a Chilli Pepper at that time. New and hotter Chillies are being cultivated all the time. In February 2012 a new world record was set by the Trinidad Moruga Scorpion, coming in at 2,009,231 SHU. But the Dorset Naga will still bring tears to your eyes.
