Cannon at Fort King George - Scarborough, Tobago

The fort was built by the British in the early 1770's as a defence for Scarborough the then new capital of Tobago, it was named after King George 3rd. It was occupied by the French from 1781 to 1793 and they called it Fort Castries. The British recaptured it in 1793 and kept a garrison there until 1854. The site is beautifully maintained and well worth a visit. Also on the site is the excellent Tobago Museum.
