The colourful Mewar Festival is celebrated in Udaipur to welcome the arrival of Spring. Local women dress the images of Isar (Lord Shiva) and Gangaur (Goddess Parvati) and form a procession through the streets of the city, accompanied by dancers and musicians. The procession ends at Gangaur Ghat on Lake Pichola where the idols are transferred to special boats and immersed in the deep waters of the lake. The Mewar Festival coincides with the Ganguar Festival in Rajasthan.
