The heliosphere is a space in the interstellar medium (orange) formed by the Sun (centre) and its solar wind. The shape of the heliosphere is formed by the direction of travel of the Sun through the interstellar medium, here from right to left. The features of the heliosphere include the bow wave, the heliosheath which marks the heliopause and the termination shock.
