Brooklyn, NY, US, June 22, 2013. People in colorful costumes took part in the annual Mermaid Parade on New York's Coney Island, a celebration of artists, the beginning of summer and Coney Island's history of popular entertainment. Organizers say the event, first staged in 1983, is the largest art parade in the United States. It features people in hand-made costumes and, according to organizers, draws hundreds of thousands of spectators.
