Quartz filled concretion. Section through a concretion showing veins of quartz (silicon dioxide, white lines) that has been deposited inside dilation cracks in what was probably originally a soft, water-containing mud-ball. The cracks were formed when the mud ball dried out to be transformed over time into a mudstone concretion. This specimen measures 110mm in diameter.
