The Marble Terraces in the Waimangu Volcanic Valley on the North Island of New Zealand are built up by silica-rich water.
Erupting Mount Tarawera on New Zealand's North Island created at 10 June 1886 the 17 kilometers long Waimangu Volcanic Rift Valley. It is now the youngest geothermal ecosystem with a wide variety of volcanic features like the Marble Terraces built up by silica-rich water.
