Low-angle view of Piazza Campetto square with the ancient fountain dating back to 1643, in the old town of Genoa (Unesco World Heritage Site), Liguria

The fountain ("barchile" in Genoese) of "Ponticello" takes its name from the street where it was placed and where it was erected in 1643. From this ancient fountain were supplied the water carriers and the sellers of vegetables ("erbivendole"). The street of Ponticello was demolished at the beginning of 1900 and the fountain located in Piazza Campetto.
