Heart fat deposits. Light micrograph of a section through heart tissue with fat deposits (white). A fatty heart is a heart that has accumulated adipose (fat) tissue on its external surface. In severe cases, fat deposits infiltrate between the muscle bundles of the heart wall. Generally seen in obese patients, the fatty heart can function poorly and lead to degeneration of the muscle and cardiac failure. Magnification unknown.
