The most im-portant enterprise now in charge ofMr. Bishop, representing the SanFrancisco Tool Company, is thebuilding of the cable road for thePiedmont Cable Company, of Oak-land, which will involve an outlay ofabout $650,000, and which will becompleted in the Spring of 1890. This gentleman is a skilled me-chanic of the first class, thoroughlyacquainted with his business, and,as has been shown, under his super-vision many important works havebeen constructed. Mr. Bishop isbut 43 years of age, in the full primeof an active and busy life, and it isreasonable to expect that in the fu-ture he will be still more prominent-ly identified with works of the char-acter of which the San FranciscoTool Company makes a specialty andof which he is the able and efficientmanager. ?*v «* •. Not the least distin-guished amongst the latter is HenryM. Black, a native of Ireland, wherehe was born on the 18th of Sep-tember, 1834. He may thus be stilltermed a man in the prime of activelife. He came to the United Stateswith his parents when four or fiveyears old; they settled in Portland,Maine,
